The argument for Iran has been the same for a while now, which is their economy really sucks. If you continue to kneecap Iran's economy, you're basically opening the door for Turkey or some kind of Sunni power in this entire region. So if you're thinking long term grand strategy from the United States perspective, you have to get over your ideological problems with Iran. This is a thuggish, sclerotic, theocratic bunch of thugs.
