The Uncanny Valley
When dealing with can of robots, i me am thinking of mary shelley and frankenstein. And i suppose things lict terminat and metropolis. The uncanny is probably more in the disturbance of voice. They don't really fit entirely into the scheme because they're not to look very human like. So it's that closeness of but not quite for he brings out the uncanny, i suppose.
