You Can't Sacrifice a Diverse, Enjoyable Career
i would a kind of throw that question back in the face of the questioner and say, who can afford toa, take time off to do a side project? Someone making a hundred bucks an hour, or someone making 300 bucks an hour? Afford that better? So i think you do not need to sacrifice a having a diverse, enjoyable career. You just have to be disciplined about what you charge money for and what you don't. And there's always side projects. You can always do things that are interesting in fun with out doing them while being paid for your clients.
