The First Dog to Orbit the Earth in Space

In 1957 Lyka the Russian stray was sent into space on a flight which had been timed to mark the anniversary of the Russian Revolution. Professor Viktor Jostovski's father was in charge of the dogs in the Russian space program and spoke about playing with Lyka before her flight when he was just nine years old.
