The Effects of Repetition Compulsion on Anxiety and Avoidance
Anxious and avoidant individuals are often attracted to each other because they recreates the dominant characteristics of each other as childhood. The anxious person naturally gravitates towards someone who's emotionally incapable of feeling truly you know relaxed and comfortable and sustained intimacy or is just not available for a relationship at the time. A great famous American psychologist said you could put one an anxious person in a room with 19 secure people and one avoidant and that anxious person would somehow walk directly towards the avoidant and become enamored with them why do we have repetition compulsion? We unconsciously choose people that remind us of our early caregiving dynamics.
