An adder is a circuit that adds two numbers together. Adders can also perform subtraction very easily, because we just flip all the individual bits and then add one to it. So an adder with small modifications, so that you flip to bits and add one, can just be turned into a subtractor fairly easily. A single bit foladdo only adds one number by itself; multi-bit additions are not useful. All i have to do is connect up my carry out bit from each segment of it to the next in line. And this is exactly the same as adding up regular decimal numbers.
