Will You Read Me a Story?

It was the first time in six months I'd seen her smile so much. Matty walked around with hooded eyes, hunched a little in her own shadow. It was nice to see her step into the sun, if only for a few minutes. We spent the rest of the afternoon taking a tour of the house. All of the chaos wore her little five-year-old bones out and we settled into the gigantic living room for the night.
