I think we often are drawn to like categorizing things as this good, this bad. That has been a general trend for me. I'm reminded of some advice that I saw for game programmers and it was about game engines. If you're writing your game from scratch, don't build a game engine first. Just build your game,. Do the simplest thing that works that makes your game work. Don't start with the most generic thing.
