The Solution to Babel and Human Wickedness in Genesis 11
In the book of Genesis, Abraham offers a sacrifice on behalf of his son Isaac. The burnt offering recalls the foundation of the new creation that emerged out of the flood with Noah and is going to be the response to what happened with Babel. In Leviticus 16 it's like the Lord is institutionalizing this experience that Abraham has with Isaac for all the people of God so that they recognize they are Isaac in this passage. It's saving through propitulatory sacrifice, wrath bearing sacrifice, the people of Israel.
