Why Haridim Men Join the Israeli Defense Force
Nearly one-quarter of all Haridim schools are exempt from the standards and requirements of the Israeli Ministry of Education. A retroactive diploma enables these young recruits to command higher salaries when they enter the job market. As recruits in the Haridis only unit, they don't need to worry as much about interacting with secular Israelis. The Khari Dori community has staged countless protests against any attempt to woo their young men into the army.
