Is Pacing a Bottleneck for Fun?

A gameplay mechanic that has a choke hold on almost every game is pacing now. It's that part in so many games where your character has to slowly squeeze through a tight quarter tunnel or wall just to see more of a story. Last year we had it in God of War Ragnarok, the Clisto Protocol, a playtale Requiem, the Last of Us Part 1 and a bunch of other games.
