The FBI and the Russians Recruited Illegals to Speak for the West
In the case of Cindy Murphy and other spies arrested in 2010, it was exposed because the FBI had recruited a source inside Russian intelligence. It was actually a man called Alexander Patayev, who had been in New York serving at the Russia's mission in New York. He then went on to be run by the FBI and the CIA while he was in Moscow. And so, as the Russians were sending out illegals into the United States and other countries, Patayev was able to tell the American authorities.
