The Future of Lithium Ion Batteries

BNEF believes sodium ion batteries could take enough market share from the lithium ion batteries to alleviate lithium supply issues. The auto industry's shift away from cobalt and batteries shows that market forces have a way of working out supply bottlenecks. Domestic oil output last year grew at one third of the annual average pace seen since Shales Hade from 2017 to 2019, and at just half the rate forecasters expected. It still hasn't caught up with pre-pandemic levels.
