Rosemary Kennedy's Story

Rosemary Kennedy was born with learning disabilities, but otherwise bright and capable. She became a Montessori teacher for a while; her favorite book was Winnie the Pooh. Rosemary's parents found her sexuality to be dangerous so they lobotomized her when she was in her late teens. For Joe Kennedy, obsessed with the family image, it was a disaster. But I think this argument that she was mentally retarded is very oversold.
