The Tale of Hamlin the Rat-Catcher

Legend has it that a stranger walked into Hamlin in June 1384 and struck a deal with the mayor. He would catch all the rats in town he told the mayor, lead them out of the town and away from their lives. The man's outfit was reportedly one of multi-colored fabric known back then as Pied. Most accounts say that all but one of the rats drowned in the Vesser River that day.
