Is the Gospel of John a Community Production?

There is an emerging new perspective on the fourth gospel that is widely embraced by scholars. John shows that he is connected to the historical Jesus and the archaeology of Jerusalem in ways known before ever imagined. The bottom line is John is written for a particular audience with an eye to that audience. So they get it. They get the story. But that doesn't mean I have to take step number two to say that the gospel of John is disconnected from the historical Jesus. Right.
