Are You He Used to Come or Shall We Look for Another?

John Paul the Second says, you know, this illustrates faith seeking understanding. John is sending his disciples to see the works of Jesus because miracles are a way of establishing Jesus' credibility so that when John dies, they will know he's the Messiah. So there might be a complimentary way of what John Paul was saying and not saying contradicts the coinus at all. But I think they both can come together.
