The International Space Station: The International Science Laboratory

Major Tim Peake will begin his six-month mission to the International Space Station in November. More than 200 astronauts have visited this most remote human outpost, 400 kilometers above our heads. The ISS had a political role of cementing East-West relations after the fall of the Soviet Union. Nowadays, it is the International Science Laboratory. So, what sort of research does it deliver? Richard Hollingham visits a secret NASA bunker in Alabama.
