Async IO is a big deal in Python. It's not really compatible with the idea of lazy loading that we see Martin Fowler first describes. You have to explicitly say I'm waiting here and then go do something else until I'm done talking to the database or something, right? So people have wanted to log into a request for a long time. Async IO could be made to work very seamlessly with SQL Academy so it wouldn't require much code to be replaced.
