Gandalf's Quest to Destroy the Ring
St. Paul recognizes a higher wisdom at work in Christ's death, even if on a purely human level it seems like folly. The word folly recurs again several times in the remainder of the story, always with a Pauline Ring. And then near the end, Gandalf counsels a final assault on the black gates to draw Sauron's attention away from Mount Doom. It's a brilliant Pauline playing words.
