Mausulus and the Artemesia Tomb

In 353, Mausulus dies and his wife Artemesia begins to build a tomb for him. She sends off messages throughout the surrounding kingdoms looking for talented artists who could help her design it. Her biggest get was Scopus, one of the most famous sculptors of that era. In 356, three years earlier, an arsonist had destroyed the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus by setting fire to the roof beams. This is one of the reasons I want to explore some of the other Seven Wonders in this week's show.
