The need for authenticity, which is for me to express myself, has been stifled. We felt hopeless and helpless after a long time. And because that sense of proper attachment did not happen with one or both parents, we start to develop coping strategies and protective mechanisms. It's basically detachment from numbers of my own sex. I feel inferior to them. It feels like I'm on the outside looking in. But deep down, they want to belong, but they don't know how to,.
