The Rise of the NHS and Death
The NHS over the years has done a magnificent job of finding cures, but they're never going to find a cure for death. I remember when we were writing the book how it was common, it was normal for people pre-NHS to die at home. We accepted that that would happen. But once the NHS came into existence, it was almost as if we were linked, quished responsibility for dying. It didn't happen to us anymore. It was someone else's problem. And so we've almost grown into a society that denies death, instead of valuing what people believe in as their own good death.
