Declining Power and Increasing Anxiety

This chapter explores the declining power and increasing anxiety of King Oswiu as he struggles to maintain his ties with Iona and hold onto Mercia. Rival kingdoms are falling under Mercian control, and the murder of King Erichambert of Kent further destabilizes the situation.
