Professor Jagdish is an eco-hydrologist and has written multiple papers on the effect of human activity on natural water systems. He says that a lot of the flooding that's happening in states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana is because they line the flood plains of rivers that originate in the Himalayas. The amount of moisture that the atmosphere can hold is much higher now because of climate change, he adds.
