John the Baptist Revealed Again
Matthew 14 begins with the story of the death of john the baptist, but is introduced in a surprising way. Herod hears word of jesus miracles and actions, then wonders whether john the baptists has been brought back to life. John the baptist is one who comes in the spirit and power of elijah. He is the elijah that is to come. In all these ways, there is an association between those characters. But here we have a story that brings out further associations.
