The Pathology of Loss
People often fall back on more simple forms of thinking in which, let's say, there's good and bad people or there's safe and unsafe parts of the world. Freud wrote about what happens when there's loss. And loss can be through death, but it also can be through losing the idealization of a parent. If the loss can't be processed well through a normal morning, that you then have what he called pathological morning.
