Moons of the outer solar system are presenting us with a new goldi lock scenaria. The energy to maintain and sustain liquid water comes not from the energy of your parent star, but rather from the tug and pull that these moons experience as they go around gas giants or their ice giants. Europa in particular occupies this new goldy lock sweet spot where it's got a just the right amount of tidal energy dissipation so as to sustain a global, salty, liquid water ocean 60 miles in depth.
