Anti semetism existed at the time, and arguably still does now. It's as supercommon in eastern europe, and really most of the world at this point in history. He thought anybody who considered themselves a pole was a pole, regardless of religion. A lot of people considered hou had to be a catholic polish man to be considered polish, and jewish people could never be polish. Even thig he was catholic. But by his own diary, and especially by his his dispatches from aushwitz like he he clearly grew up.
