Symbolic Interpretation of the Ritual
The husband is to bring his wife to the priest along with an offering. The strange character of this ritual invites symbolic interpretation. Perhaps the earthen vessel, as we see in places like second corinthians, chapter four, verse seven, is an image of the human being formed of dust and water. There also seem to be various ways in which this particular ritual alludes to events within the biblical histories.
