There is a movement to preserve plants, especially food plants. The goal here is that we will have a broad and diverse group of food products so that they both can't be wiped off the face of the earth. I don't think any ivory tower can house the seeds or the seed knowledge that we need if there is a blight on this great nation or indeed in the world.
