i think it's reasonable to assume that pre performance routines would help us in the gim if we are about to maybe pull a heavy dead lift or do a heavy squat. Many, if not most, high level olympic lifters, power lifters and other strength athletes use pre lift routines. For some people, they use active imagery. And listening to certain types of music does just fire us up more than others.
