The Different Dynamics of the British Arm Work Experience

The British of course do have much more experience militarily diplomatically as we'll see later in 1943 at the Tehran conference with FDR Churchill and Stalin there. The Americans could smell that and didn't like it and it created a difficult environment. Marshall had befriended the senior British officer in Washington Sir John Greer Dill who is a very senior British officer a field marshal in fact. That was a key to this conference producing the results it did because Dill was able to act as almost an American translator to the British.
