I think it's always exciting to think about what an alternative web could be, especially one that serves publicly or oriented goals. One of the things that stood out to me as i was reading the vision for what a deprivatize web could look like is that it was very decentralized zed. I worry that some of these decentralized solutions could be a bit exclusionary in that way, or could prioritize a particular type of person or skill setter,. And those are just like a jumble of points on, you know, reservations that i have with embracing a, a decentralized solution wholly.
Paris Marx is joined by Ben Tarnoff to discuss why the problems with the modern internet, including its excessive concentration in the hands of a few companies and the way its dominant firms shape our interactions to generate profit, find their root in the decision to privatize the network. To fix them, that needs to be changed.
