The last reactor was not shut down until the year two thousand. That happened under enormous pressure coming from the west and western governments. Newcle industry wanted to move forward into the ne century, into new millennium, without the shadow of chinobel over its future. The world's leaders celebrate an important step in preventing another disaster of the magnitude of the 19 86 melt down.
