He was, as you rightly say at the very beginning of the article in a far greater position in 2020. That should have set him up for a much more strong challenge than he actually put up in the end. The first is that he basically bought into Trump derangement syndrome or what we call neoliberal order breakdown syndrome. And one phenomenon of that is Russia Gate. But particularly more tellingly, and I thought this was very powerful where you say that he participated in building up Trump as a fascist. In doing so, he undermined himself because he effectively made the case by saying that Trump was this absolute, this kind of existential threat to American democracy and to the American way of life.
