Scientists were concerned about the fact that sweet pesticides like weren't working so well anymore. Male cockroaches started to secrete less maltose in their homemade chocolate and replaced it with a higher level of, um, maltotriose. Females seemed to be developing changes in their saliva that made the process of turning maltose into glucose even slower. The males also got faster in doing their like, chocolate to genital beat and switch.
