Paul thanks God through Jesus Christ for you all because your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world. The obedience of faith comes from persons, and so he directs his thanks to God for persons first of all. He's on their side. Faith is not a commodity that Paul is going through the world amassing into a big bag.
