The Story of Thomas Clyde Smith, Jr.

Thomas Clyde Smith, Jr. was convicted of molesting his daughter in 1965. He went to jail for a short time and then got sent to a psych ward at Tascadero State Hospital. While he's there, he gets somehow, I'm not sure how it happened, but somehow they reversed the plea of or the guilty plea of rape. But while he was there, he basically became a Christian. And he started getting these visions from God. Like first he was hearing voices, you know, telling him that what he needed to do, he needed to become a minister and start a church. This is literally how Mormonism started.
