"I only set out to write an incredibly intimate story," she says. "The body is not always violence against the body. It's about being tender." Shuggy helps his mother take off her tights when she can't do it. She would never be seen bare-legged, that kind of thing. All these details matter to the characters because the revealer can seal something.
