The Last Samurai, 2003

The Last Samurai has all the ingredients of a great story. It's inspired by real events and Tom Cruise does his usual fine acting. The movie depicts the samurai as bravely fighting a corrupt government while ignoring their horrific abuses of defenseless peasants. But it is not great history.
