Introduction

Nearly half of Somalia's population, around 8 million people, who need life-saving humanitarian protection assistance. The 2023 humanitarian response plan has received only 50% of the funding it needs. A full-blown famine has been narrowly averted for now, but current forecasts indicate that the April-to-June rains will be much less than needed.
