Is There a Duty to Grieve?
i contend that there is, in fact, a kind of duty of self knowledge. When we mourn the deceased, we are probably fulfilling duties to other living people. But i want to deny that there's a duty to others to grieve. I thinkthhee is a duty. It’s a duty to ourselves. And when we know ourselves well, this is a way for us to live more authentically and truly. In the case of grief, i think a it's a opportunity t o come to live in e light of the reality that another person has died.
