Are We Going to Have a Virtual Society?
In the long run, i very much hope that there will be user controlled and user governed mutral worlds from the bottom up. I can imagine a future where we have so many different virtual worlds that people would be able to choose the kind of virtual world that they want to inhabit. The philosopher robert nosi, in his book, anarchy, state and utopia, said, for him, utopia was not like a single, best ideal form of society. But rather, he said what he called meta utopia. A meta utopia is like a choice of societies to live in with many different governing systems.
