During a specific sleep stage, there are reduced spindles. This implicates the thalamic reticular nucleus, which generates spindle waves. There's abnormal synchrony between spindles and slow oscillations. If this asynchrony is part of the cause of disrupted sleep in autistic people, it could be a great non-invasive treatment to help them rest.
