According to Ordaric, Williams sent over a messenger to the rebels and provided them with terms. He was well acquainted with one of their leaders, Morkar. The young man had actually been part of Williams court which made him a friend of the king. So if he would simply put down his arms and bring this regrettable situation to a close, well they could be friends again. And sure enough, that's exactly what happened.
