The Difference Between Preference Utilitarianism and Hedonism

Preference utilitarianism is the view that we maximize well being by satisfying the preferences of the beings involved. The hedonistic view is to maximise happiness, or net surplus of happiness over misery. There are some situations in which satisfying preferences might not contribute to happiness.
