The Origins of the Athenians' Peace Treaty

Donald Kagan believes that a formal peace wasn't acted. He also believes that Calius, the brother-in-law of Kaimon, was employed by Pericles several times to negotiate these important agreements. Some sources allege that his mission to Artaxerxes was not successful, and that he was indicted for high treason on his return to Athens. Others claim that the Athenians dedicated an altar of peace and voted special honors to him. Anyways, this only adds to the confusion, whether there was an official peace.
