The Advantage That the US Had Over the Soviet Union

US chip firms in Silicon Valley and elsewhere began focusing on consumer applications. By the 1970s, most chips were being sold for corporate computers or for consumer devices like calculators. The Soviets lack at the US also had from day one was an international supply chain. And they had almost no immigration into the Soviet Union except for a couple of spies.
