In the seventies and eighties, stand up was kind of a new thing. There were maybe like five or six comedy clubs in san francisco whn i was in high school. By the time i was doing stand up in my twenties, there were two. So they started to contract because of a market saturation. And then all the clubs closed. Was etst a makor economic down turn. What happened? I think it was, there were three factors. One factor was just thare was just a glut thered just beno fora live comedy.
